Farmhouse in quiet panoramic position at the entrance to Val Gardena
Our farm is located at the edge of the mountain village Laion in South Tyrol and is the perfect starting point for numerous excursions in the hiking paradise of the Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage.
The village Laion, blessed with plenty of sunshine, lies on the southern foothills of a gently rolling landscape at 1,100 m above sea level in the central Isarco Valley. In the village (of roughly 900 inhabitants) you will find restaurants, bars, supermarkets, a butcher, a bank, the pharmacy, a bakery and pastry shop, gifts, handicrafts, a hairdressing salon, tennis courts, a children's playground and an ice rink in winter. Other amenities and events also help to make your stay anything but boring (public library, occasional concerts, walking tours...).
The village centre is about 250 metres west of the Rodererhof.
The shops and offices all have normal opening hours.
The supermarkets are closed on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday.
There are direct connections from the Roderer Hof farmhouse to various paths that run through meadows and forests and are perfect for hiking and cycling.
You can leave your vehicle on the farm in the covered parking space and with the free Val Gardena Mobil Card you can use all public transport throughout South Tyrol free of charge and unlimited. Those interested in culture will get their money's worth nearby in the picturesque artist town of Chiusa (10 km away), the former episcopal city of Bressanone (20 km) and in the capital city of Bolzano (30 km).
Arrival by car
You can reach our farm from the north and south via the Brennero motorway (A22): leave the motorway at the Chiusa (German: Klausen) exit and follow the road towards Val Gardena (Grödnertal). After about 8 km, turn left and drive 2 km uphill to Laion (Lajen); head to the sports field and you’ll find the Roderer Hof farmhouse really closed by (on the eastern hillside).
Arrival by train
All Intercity and Eurocity trains stop in Bolzano (30 km away from Laion) or in Bressanone (20 km), some also stop in Chiusa (10 km). There are direct bus connections from Chiusa to Laion, at one hour intervals.
The nearest bus stop is about 200 metres south of the Rodererhof.
